A local man repeatedly yelled at officers early on Thursday and tried to assault one of them before being arrested, authorities said.
Police arrested Jerome David Burton, 23, in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Broad Street, Detective Scott DeCiero said.
Police had gone to the store just after 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a possibly intoxicated man in the parking lot screaming at people and hitting their cars.
When officers arrived, Burton immediately became angry with them.
“The officers began to speak to him and his attitude became agitated,” said DeCiero. “He began flailing his arms at the officers and screaming, ‘(Expletive deleted) the police,’ and ‘arrest me.’”
Burton continued to ignore orders not to scream. He began pounding his own chest while he yelled at officers and at one point unsuccessfully but “aggressively” lunged at a police officer, DeCiero said.
Police arrested Burton, of 79 Framingham Road, and charged him with assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Burton was scheduled to be arraigned later Thursday in Marlborough District Court. Results were not known.
